Maïa Schwinghammer
Freestyle skier
Maïa Schwinghammer’s journey to the Olympic stage is as unique as her talent. Hailing from the flatlands of Saskatoon, where she first learned to ski by being towed behind a snowmobile on a frozen lake, she was inspired by Canadian icons Jenn Heil and Alex Bilodeau to chase a massive Olympic dream. Relocating to Whistler to hone her craft, her undeniable talent landed her a spot on the National Team at just 16 years old. Today, she has transformed from a prairie hopeful into one of the world's premier mogul skiers. Following a breakthrough 2024-2025 season where she captured her first World Cup victory on home snow and a World Championship bronze, Maïa made a spectacular Olympic debut at the Milano-Cortina 2026 Games. As the top Canadian woman in the event, she delivered a stunning 5th place finish in the moguls final, missing the podium by mere fractions of a point. Fierce, resilient, and constantly progressing, Maïa is undeniably one of the sport’s brightest stars and most compelling stories.
